When: Friday, Feb 02 | 10:45 am - 12:00 pm

Location: tbd

Days: Friday. Event Types: Session. Sectors: Public Libraries. Subjects: Organizational Issues.

Description:

Are reference staff being reduced as users turn to Google? Are collections being downsized to make room for user spaces? If customers are doing more by themselves via the library’s website, why do libraries need librarians? We will explore how work is being transformed in Canada’s public libraries.

Outcomes:
The ultimate goal is to raise critical consciousness regarding the meaning of larger social, economic and technological forces for professional and paraprofessional work in the public library and to build a bridging dialogue with the next generation of workers and leaders.
