Interested in seeing what’s happening inside the most recently built or renovated libraries in the GTA? Then come join any of our morning tours. This year’s tours cover public libraries, the offices of Penguin Random House Canada, the TIFF Film Reference Library, and the TD Art + Archives at 77 King Street West. Please note that the 2020 School Library Bus Tour has been cancelled due to low registration numbers.

YOGA

Thursday, January 30th + Friday, January 31st | 7:30-8:15am

Yoga is sort of social, right? Come and join our morning yoga class and prepare your body and mind for the day ahead on Thursday and Friday (MTCC 105 stage area) at 7:30am-8:15am. Yoga mats will be provided. No registration required. Namaste.

PUBLIC LIBRARY AWARDS GALA

Thursday, January 30th | 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Join your colleagues in recognizing excellence in Ontario’s public libraries. The evening will begin with a mix and mingle, including drinks and hors d’oeuvres, followed by an award presentation gala honouring our colleagues and innovative library initiatives.  We will present select OPLA, OLBA, and SOLS awards. This year’s award presentations include the Archival and Preservation Achievement Award, the W.J. Robertson Librarian of the Year Award, and the Joyce Cunningham Award.

Reception at 5:30 pm, Award Presentation at 6:30 pm.

Tickets are $40 and available upon registration.

GAMES NIGHT SOCIAL

Location: ICTC CALEDON, HUMBER, AND HALIBURTON

Come and participate in a Dungeons and Dragons and Board Games and chat with librarians who also are interested in games. A fun lighthearted night. Cash Bar.

Location: The Pint House (right beside the Convention Centre on Front Street)

Cap off a full day of professional learning by belting out your favourite tunes alongside conference attendees!  Or just come along and watch.  Participation is not mandatory.

MOVIE NIGHT

A free Canadian movie? Yes, please! As a part of the Toronto International Film Festival’s “See the North” series, TIFF is hosting a free screening of the new documentary Toronto Hides Itself, with a Q&A with director Alexandra Anderson. Tickets are free and can be reserved in advance or picked up at the box office at the corner of King St. and John St. (just a block away from the MTCC) on a first-come, first-served basis.
