What is community-led librarianship and how does it differ from traditional outreach frameworks? How does one begin to shift a library organization from the status quo to a community-led approach? This session will provide a snapshot of Milton Public Library’s experiences moving to a community-led model, charting its successes, challenges, and the way forward into the future. This session will guide libraries thinking of adopting a community-led strategy through the process: from the theoretical literature underpinning the approach, to practical implementation strategies including training, staffing, and community conversations.

– How to build community connections and remove barriers to library service
– How to guide and manage change in large organizations
– The fundamentals of the community-led approach and starting steps
