This session aims to share the insights and experiences of an Indigenous Student Advisor and two non-Indigenous academic librarians engaged with reconciliation initiatives on their campuses. Attendees will be provided with tangible examples of how allies within the library can connect and engage with Indigenous and non-Indigenous partners in meaningful ways. Topics will include building trust, cultural awareness, embedded librarianship, and outreach efforts. Presenters will also speak to their participation on the CFLA/FCAB Truth and Reconciliation Committee, the CFLA/FCAB Indigenous Matters Committee and their experiences with academic community partners. Attendees will be encouraged to extend the “Hand of Peace and Friendship” in support of reconciliation efforts on their campus.
