Have you ever had a vendor application that you wished you could customise, but you assume you can’t because, well, the man? Do you have beginner, intermediate, or even advanced HTML/Javascript skillz? Or maybe your idea of Java is a nice cup-o-joe… This presentation will outline some of the customisations we’ve made to a few of our vendor products to improve usability and to integrate them with other services and and systems that we use. Whether it’s injecting boolean search tips into the Primo front end, integrating ARES into the Primo user interface, or integrating LIBGUIDES into ARES, we’ll cover it all! The goal of this session is to provide, in relatively introductory terms, how you can go about injecting customisations into vendor applications without requiring customisation of core files. If you can modify the CSS or embed some HTML, you have a lot more power than you think!
