When: Wednesday, Jan 30 | 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm

Location: MTCC 201D

Days: Wednesday. Event Types: Session. Sectors: School Libraries. Subjects: Innovation, Literacy, and Technology.

In this session, participants would be introduced to the idea of curating (vs collecting) resources digitally. Why should you curate? What tools might work for you? What are effective curation practices? Ideally, participants would then have time to practice curating – whether building a mini-textbook for a particular high school course, thinking about what tool might work best for keeping track of your social media finds, cleaning out some things you’ve collected and haven’t ever looked at again, or how best to share what you’ve curated. Participants would be encouraged to share best practices, as well as thinking about how to help students develop the practice of curation. As we develop virtual library/learning commons spaces, effective curation is becoming a more and more necessary skill.
