The next generation of libraries takes risks and fosters leaders of change at all levels. Building a culture of learning is the critical link that drives innovation and engagement. Pickering Public Library shares their success story of becoming a learning organization. In this session, participants will hear best practices from management team members. A set of e-resources will be shared within the session slides and Pickering Library management will share top strategies to assist other library leaders in transforming their libraries into learning organizations. It is no coincidence that the City of Pickering was designated as a worldwide Smart21 Community for 2017 and 2018. Pickering Public Library was also awarded the #1 Summer Reading Club in Canada in 2016. There will be an audience question period near the end of the session for added interactivity.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
1. Share management experiences and discuss with peers what it means to be a leader in a learning organization (or a learning library)
2. Come away with various e-resources and practical learning organization activities that can be utilized to help their library become a learning organization.
3. Identify and develop learning culture strategies to support the development of a learning organization and that are suited to their individual workplaces.
