Girls need opportunities to get involved with their community; a safe space to explore what matters to them, and to have their voices heard. Story Sheroes was created to meet that need. It began as an idea, grew into a partnership between the YW Kitchener-Waterloo and Kitchener Public Library and became a highly successful ongoing library program for girls in grades 6-8. Story Sheroes focuses on reading, writing, and creating art, poetry and stories to help participants discover their creative voice and identity.
The presentation will be a joint session between the YW Kitchener-Waterloo and Kitchener Public Library and participants will learn about program development, outcomes, and strategies to help establish Story Sheroes programming in your own communities.
