We’re entering a golden age for the picture book biography. Not only are they more sophisticated and beautiful than ever before, they are FINALLY beginning to feature a more diverse range of subjects – and authors. Discover some of the latest entries into this exciting field to help round out your collection with award-winning diverse books. Learn about the imbalance in books about women subjects, and the imbalance in biographies by women writers in the children’s biography field, and how to correct it in your library. Find out how the new style of picture book biographies can be used to stimulate critical inquiry and literacy at all levels, from Kindergarten up to and including high school, and help readers as both “mirrors” and “windows”.
