Larry Swartz, author of Teaching Tough Topics: How do I use children’s literature to build a deeper understanding of social justice, equity, and diversity?, will be signing in the OBPO Pavilion on Friday at 10:30 AM.
Teaching Tough Topics shows librarians and teachers how to use quality children’s literature to lead students to read, respond, and build empathy. Bullying, racism, immigration, indigenous identities, death, homophobia, poverty, physical and mental challenges are just some of the themes explored.
