BookNet Canada surveyed book buyers, readers, and library borrowers from across Canada. We discovered who borrowers are, how and why visitors and borrowers use libraries, plus more insights. We examined how library circulations and retail sales intersect, including comparing library visits with books purchased and popular subjects borrowed and bought.

Can MEDLINE records be excluded from an Embase search without loss of sensitivity, for a systematic review?

Embase (Ovid) offers an option to filter out MEDLINE records. We examined the impact of this filter on the retrieval of relevant (included) studies. Searches from 20 recent Cochrane reviews were re-run in MEDLINE, Embase, and Embase (with filter). We recorded whether included studies were found in each results set.
Collaborative dreams: Launching a patient information service using LibGuides

Working with a practicum student, we created a new service for regional cancer centre staff to provide access to, and confidence in, a collection of patient information resources, using LibGuides.

Outlines the story of how Lynden staff made the library a hub between Langford Conservancy, migrant workers, and the community. Outreach led to a medical clinic for the workers, a bicycle program, meeting spaces, free wi-fi and more. Lynden demonstrates what community-led outreach can achieve, even in a small library.

This poster describes the outcomes of a year-long pilot project that delivered social work services to homeless individuals in the City of Mississauga. This project evaluation employed quantitative and qualitative data. These findings can inform the delivery and implementation of similar programs for homeless individuals.

Grounding Indigenous Learning in the Library and on the Land through Relationship and Reciprocity

By using Indigenous texts, and in consultation and collaboration with Indigenous educators and Elders, a library program became a hub for school-wide learning. Indigenous voices were highlighted through written and visual resources, as well as guests. Students deepened relationships to Land and to people through gardening and processing Tobacco.
